A new disease called Overeating !
Nutrition is essential to maintain and repair our body every day. However, eating culture has totally transformed now due to socioeconomic changes. In the past until agricultural age, human beings had to work whole day searching for food to feed themselves and family. But now due to market based economy, food is easily available; there is always something in the refrigerator to eat. This was a good change because that would help eradicate malnutrition. However, in the meantime, it introduced problems like overweight. Coupled with sedentary lifestyle, there has been a sharp rise in heart disease and diabetes. In principle, overweight can cause strain to all body organs.
What is the root cause of all these health problems? Unconsciously, we are suffering from a disease called OVEREATING. It is pandemic now…
Establishing a healthy eating habit isn’t easy. But it is definitely doable. First of all, with the help of tools available in this website, calculate your daily calorie requirement. And then it is very important to know the calorie of food you are eating. Basically, knowing calorie of around ten common foods you eat is enough because we may not have more varieties. Once your calorie intake is below your daily requirement you will start losing weight. For example, for someone whose daily calorie requirement is 2000, eating 1700 calorie per day will gradually reduce weight.
Next step and the most important one is SELF CONTROL. This requires practice. It is very important to realize why we have to eat and how much is actually needed and what are the side-effects of having overweight body. There are many methods to improve self-control which I will discuss in the future.
